One Month Till Graduation

I am so ready to graduate! Last week I received the contract for MCT... a great sign that it's getting closer! These past few weeks, I have definitely been reminscing around the Mason campus, but feel my time has come to move on. I have received so much from this institution, and would most definitely recommend it to many after me, but I cannot wait to begin my year of traveling and a job in the theatre. :-)

First National Tour

Two months left till graduation, and I've already secured a job for next year. In June, I will begin a year-long national tour with MISSOULA CHILDREN'S THEATRE, based out of Missoula, MT.

January and February were jam-packed with professional and grad school auditions in New York, Connecticuit, Providence, DC, and St. Louis. I'm so thankful to have reaped so much from my audition tour... I learned SO MUCH from the 10+ auditions (how to use each space, prep needed, interaction (or lack of) with fellow auditioners, etc.), and I know it is only the beginning of a career of auditions.

My thesis performance, Defying Gravity, was performed and well-received at Harris Theatre last Thursday, and I could not ask for a better performance given the time and space we had. My cast and crew were simply amazing, and the best part for me was to see some of my most talented friends making beautiful art onstage, together~ They drew out true confidence in me that I had not experienced since the end of high school.

This week, I am taking part in my first professional staged reading with Theater in the First Amendment. The play is called Ulysses. It was the winning play from a high school playwriting competition. I am serving as the only female actor, and also as production assistant/ASM. I'm thrilled with the experience so far, and what I love most about the acting field is that all ranges of experience work together everyday... The cast is made up of veteran Equity DC actors, to professional non-union actors, to fellow college students eager to work on our first gigs.

NYC Prep

A week from now I'll be on a bus to the big city where I'll attend four major auditions. Can't wait to strut my stuff... haha. No, it's been difficult to conjure the attitude needed for competition in this industry. I'm a confident person, but not cocky, and at times I doubt my chances. This past week I've just been trying to look at all the work and achievements I've garnered to get me to the point I am today in my acting. SO look out New York, Here I come!
